Surface treatment of shelves

The surface treatment methods for shelves in automotive 4S shops mainly include the following:

Electrostatic powder coating: This is a common surface treatment method where the plastic powder is electrified by a static generator to adhere to the iron plate surface. After that, it undergoes high-temperature baking, causing the powder to melt and adhere to the metal surface, forming a hard coating. The advantages of this method include advanced technology, energy efficiency, safety and reliability, and vibrant colors. The average thickness of the coating should not be less than 60μm, and the thinnest part should not be less than 40μm. The hardness of the coating should not be lower than the pencil hardness H level, and the coating's resistance to heat and humidity should meet certain standards.

Hot-dip galvanizing: This is an effective method of metal anti-corrosion, where rust-removed steel parts are immersed in high-temperature molten zinc, allowing a zinc layer to adhere to the steel surface for corrosion protection. The anti-corrosion life of hot-dip galvanizing varies depending on the environment, such as 13 years in heavy industrial areas, 50 years in marine environments, 104 years in rural areas, and 30 years in urban areas.

Paint spraying: This is a traditional surface treatment method that protects metal from oxidation and corrosion by applying paint. Typically, an anti-rust primer and a topcoat are required. However, the durability of the paint spraying process is relatively poor, and it is not environmentally friendly, leading to its reduced use in the shelf industry.

Galvanization: This includes two processes, electroplating (cold plating) and hot-dip galvanizing. Electroplating deposits zinc ions on the metal surface under the influence of an electric field, while hot-dip galvanizing involves immersing the metal in molten zinc to form a zinc layer. The cost and corrosion resistance of the two processes differ.

Silane treatment: This is a new type of environmentally friendly surface treatment process that enhances the adhesion and corrosion resistance of the coating layer. It is very eco-friendly and does not cause environmental pollution, but the cost is relatively high.

Shot blasting: The use of a shot blasting machine to sand the surface of the shelf, removing rust and oxide layers, providing a clean substrate for subsequent surface treatments.

De-oiling/Defatting: The use of degreasing agents to remove oil stains from the surface of shelf raw materials in preparation for painting or other surface treatment processes.

These surface treatment methods can improve the corrosion resistance, aesthetics, and durability of shelves, and also help enhance the brand image and user experience of the shelves. Different treatment methods are suitable for different environments and requirements, and choosing the appropriate surface treatment process is crucial for the shelf's service life and performance.
